Stop worrying about other people understanding you.

The other day, I visited one of my friends near the city and we had a late night talk about life next to the harbor. It was a beautiful night and you could see the whole NYC skyline. Listening to music, eating pizza, and just vibing to good tunes. As the night went on, my friend popped the question, “Hey Dilan, why are you so mysterious? Like I can’t seem to figure you out.” My initial reaction was a chuckle and I responded, “How am I mysterious?” She responded back by saying “I don’t know, I just feel like I don’t know too much about your personal life and you’re closed off at times.”

Why are you so mysterious?

I’m sure we’ve all had moments in our life where we felt like we needed to explain ourselves to others simply for them to understand where we’re coming from. At least I have. After that night, I was curious to actually know if I was mysterious to other friends of mine. First person I went to was my mother and she started laughing. She told me “ It’s good that people don’t know too much about you. They don’t need to.” Meanwhile, my other friend has mentioned to me that I was very open and charismatic. So after that night and incessant questions to family and friends, I came to the conclusion….

Stop worrying about other people understanding you.

Here’s a quote that I read on Instagram from an account called Spiritual Life:

Stop worrying about other people understanding you. Get in touch with yourself instead. Focus on what makes you happy, what makes your soul feel at peace. Life becomes so much more fulfilling when you are just simply yourself.

Rather than feeling the need to explain yourself to others because they might not understand you… instead own it. Not everyone should have access into your life, only the special & important people that matter to you. So next time you feel the need to explain yourself to someone because maybe they think you’re weird or “mysterious” , just move on. You know yourself the best and you know who you are at the core. The right people will come into your life that vibe at your frequency. Follow the flow of life and enjoy your qualities & traits, they make you who you are… a one of a kind… something special.
